a mantra for happiness and joy

Times are tough, y’all. That’s not news, but every now and then lately it hits me like diarrhea after a dirty restaurant. There is just so much stuff happening and, if I let myself get too sucked in, it’s overwhelming enough to make me want to stay in bed for days. This was my antidote today:

Sit quietly and think of a time when you were filled with happiness. Focus on the feeling of joy in your body rather than the specific memory you’ve recalled. Now, with your focus on that feeling, wish that feeling for everyone by silently repeating: “May everyone, everywhere be happy. May the whole world be filled with joy.” If you can, take that feeling with you throughout your day.
